Of course, the wines are great because Romaneira is blessed with one of the great vineyard terroirs of the Douro Valley.

But a terroir is nothing without a team dedicated to looking after it and to its interpretation in the winery.

Marco de Alfaro

Chairman of the Board - Grupo Quinta da Romaneira

Marco de Alfaro is a graduate of University of Torino (Economics) and holds an MBA from INSEAD (where of course he is a regular member of the Alumni Wine Club).
His background is in management consulting and investments. He represents majority shareholder IDI on the board of Romaneira (and is, like all Romaneira team members, a wine-lover!).


Christian Seely

Managing Director
Christian Seely's Blog

Christian Seely was born in 1960, educated at Harrow School, Trinity College Cambridge and INSEAD.
He has been managing director and shareholder of Quinta da Romaneira since its acquisition in 2004. He has many years of experience in the Douro Valley, having been also managing director of Quinta do Noval since 1993.
Since 2001 he has been managing director of the AXA Millesimes group of vineyards, based at Chateau Pichon Baron in Pauillac. Besides this prestigious Pauillac Grand Cru Classé, Christian Seely is responsible for looking after Châteaux Pibran in Pauillac, Petit-Village in Pomerol, Suduiraut in Sauternes, Mas Belles Eaux in the Languedoc, as well as Domaine de l’Arlot in Nuits-St-Georges, Disznókõ in Hungary and Quinta do Noval in Portugal. He is also the President of the Compagnie Médocaine, the Bordeaux Négociant, which is wholly owned by AXA Millésimes.
Apart from Quinta da Romaneira and the properties of AXA Millésimes, he is also co-founder and joint owner of Coates and Seely Ltd. , producer of English Sparkling wine in Hampshire, England.


Antonio Agrellos

Winemaker

António Agrellos (63 years old). Consultant Winemaker at Romaneira. Graduated at the Oenology Institute of the University of Bordeaux.
Great Portuguese Winemaker, voted two times “Winemaker of the Year” in the category of fortified wines. Works with Christian Seely for more than 18 years (at Quinta do Noval) and has an active role in Romaneira since the start of the project in 2004.
Famous for producing excellent wines at Noval since 1994 (three wines with 100 points in 15 years), his Port and Douro wines are regularly recognized as some of the very best.


Adelino Teixeira

Viticulturalist

Adelino Teixeira has a bachelor degree in Agricultural Production and graduated in Agro-Livestock Engineering – both studies concluded at the Agrarian Superior School of Coimbra.
Worked at Quinta do Noval between 1994 and 2005. He has been working for Romaneira since 2005 as responsible for viticulture and for the whole agricultural area of the Quinta.


Leonor Sequeira

Oenologist

Leonor Sequeira was born in 1975, educated at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (Chemical Analysis Techniques) and Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Oenology/Winemaking).
She has been the permanent winemaker of Quinta da Romaneira since 2007. Born and raised in the Douro Valley, she has already many years of experience in Douro and Port wines, having been working in some of the greatest wine companies like Quinta do Noval or Ramos Pinto.


Ricardo Campos

Commercial Director

Ricardo Campos was born in Porto in 1973, educated at Aveiro University (Industrial Engineering) and at Budapest University (Marketing and International Business).
He worked as Market Manager for Asia at “AEP - Macau/China” for one year and has been Export Director for Eastern Europe at “Dan Cake – Hungary” (food industry) for three years. After that he joined “Borges”, a major Portuguese winery, where he worked as Market Manager (Europe, North America and Asia) for almost five years. He joined Romaneira in June 2011.


Filipe Salgado

Financial Director

Born in 1973 in the south of France (Valence), Filipe came to Portugal with his parents (Portugal natives) in 1985. Educated in the city of Vila do Conde, High school (Accounting) and University (Accounting & Management), he post-graduated in Finance and tax management on FEP – University of Porto, in 2005. Filipe founded a local newspaper called “Eco-Jovem” in 1993 and managed it during 18 months. He was member of the University Student Academy in 1994.
He started his career in 1996 as an accountant in a Transport company where he spent two years. In 1998, he was made controller of an “ITW, Inc” branch focused on construction business in Portugal until 2002 when he accepted the position of Financial Manager in a Portuguese dealer of construction tools.
He was appointed financial controller of Quinta do Noval in 2004 and he accepted to split his time between Quinta do Noval and Quinta da Romaneira in 2006. Sports passionate, he competed in various teams of handball and football.


Corinne Seely

Consultant Winemaker – White and Rose

Corinne Seely was born in France. She studied a masters degree in mineral chemistry and formation of soils at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris.
She qualified as an oenologist at the Institute of Oenology in Bordeaux. She had her first experiences of vinification as a trainee at Chateau Lynch Bages working with Daniel Llose. She subsequently became technical director of Domaine de Chevalier (92-96), and has since worked as a freelance consultant in many areas, including Bordeaux, the Languedoc, Australia, the Douro, and recently England. Her passion is the vinification of White and Rose wines, both still and sparkling.


Marisa Cavadas

Commercial Department

Marisa Cavadas was born in 1979, educated at Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos (Biotecnology) and Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Oenology). She has worked at Club del Gourmet in El Corte Ingles in 2006/2007. Right after, joined Wine o’Clock (Matosinhos and Lisbon) working in different areas: store sales, logistics manager, store manager. In January 2011 she went to Spain, where she worked as an Export Manager of Bodegas Argenceres, an Argentinean wine and olive oil producer.
 She joined Romaneira in January 2012.
